Victorian tiling has been restored in the oldest pub in Wandsworth.

The tiles were revealed during a special ceremony in The Armoury, Armoury Way, Wandsworth on Monday.

Pub staff discovered the glazed Victorian tiling, believed to have not been seen by anyone for at least 50 years, after removing layers of paint.

After making the discovery it was decided to restore the gable end of the pub.

The pub, owned by Youngs, was first established in 1738.

Senior staff from the brewery visited the venue on Monday, with staff hoping the rest of the outside of the pub could be restored.

Visitors will be able to admire the tiling during The Armoury Music Festival taking place on Sunday.

A total of eight bands will be performing from midday until 10pm, while barbecue food will be on offer.
