A motorcyclist who sped along the A316 at 108 miles per hour told magistrates he was “a bit too excited” by the clear road.

Oliver Sayner, 26, of Brookside Avenue, Ashford, was going at more than double the 50mph speed limit when he drove home from work on his Kawasaki motorbike at 7.20am on bank holiday Monday – May 27.

He pleaded guilty at Richmond Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 20, to exceeding the speed limit when he appeared.

He said: “There were very few cars on the road and I think I just got a bit too excited about the situation.”

Magistrates told Sayner that they considered banning him from driving.

He pleaded with them to give him points instead because he needed to be able to drive his motorbike to work at antisocial hours when it would be difficult to get public transport.

Sayner was given six points on his driving licence as well ordered to pay a £340 fine, £34 surcharge and £85 in costs.
