Crystal Palace lost their Premier League opener to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday but there was plenty for fans to cheer.
The Eagles were beaten 1-0 thanks to Roberto Soldado’s penalty but were applauded off at the end having put in a gutsy display that proved they could compete in England’s top tier.
A crowd of 23,285 watched the game, that began with a big red and blue whirlpool display in the Holmesdale complete with a giant poster of the jigsaw dummy from the Saw films and a banner with the words “Palace are here, let the games begin.”
