Firefighters were called to a smoke-filled flat last night after a cooker was left on.
Firefighters went to the property in Church Road, Leatherhead, at about 7pm.
A Leatherhead fire station spokesman said a neighbour alerted them to the fire.
He said: "It was a vacant property but before the person left, they left the cooker on.
"Apart from the cooker there was not much damage. It was just smoke logged."
