Curmudgeon the motorist:

Cyclists! God help us. They don’t even pay road tax. Well apart from the ones who also own cars... which is probably most of them, but that’s not the point.

They should pay it twice. Although it’s not strictly road tax. It’s vehicle excise duty... yawn.

And what about this closing the roads so 20,000 of the herberts could cycle through our borough. It’s not fair. A whole day’s disruption. One whole day.

They never ban cyclists from the roads do they. When’s the bike-free day that’s what I want to know?

And all this transforming Kingston into a cycling mecca. Cycle lanes and another bridge just for the lycra brigade. What’s wrong with the cycle lane already on Kingston Bridge?

They’re not happy with their own lane, now they want a whole damn bridge to themselves!

Curmudgeon the cyclist:

Drivers! God help us. Not looking out for us cyclists, cutting in front of us, pulling out of side roads without looking. Because we’re all really hard to spot in our bright, fluorescent tabards aren’t we?

When are they going to start paying attention and realise there are others on the road who aren’t polluting the planet and causing traffic jams?

And then we’re told to overtake a line of traffic on the driver’s side, thus getting stuck on the outside of the road when the traffic starts moving again.

And the verbal abuse we get from drivers. Listen, it’s bad enough having to parade the streets in high visibility clothing and a funny helmet without putting up with that as well.
