A homeless man at the centre of housing row with the council is in custody after an alleged attack near to his makeshift home in a churchyard.
Isam Mahmoud, 42, has been charged with two counts of actual bodily harm in the grounds of St Nicholas Church, Sutton town centre, on August 2 on a man aged 34 and another man aged 56.
Mr Mahmoud has been remanded in custody to appear at Croydon Crown Court on August 19.
A Sutton Council spokesman said: "We will continue to help those eligible for housing support within the borough through our team of dedicated officers.
"It would however, be inappropriate for us to comment on an individual case."
