Jonny Williams is happy to be Ian Holloway's midfield utility man at Crystal Palace.

The diminutive 19-year-old has found himself in a number of positions under Holloway's management at Selhurst Park - starting in the hole behind striker Aaron Wilbraham in Saturday's 1-0 friendly defeat to Lazio before moving out to the left wing.

He started May's play-off final on the right wing and played as one of the Eagles' two holding midfielders at times last season, but the academy graduate is more than happy with his nomadic existence.

"The manager has played me in a number of different positions and that will be good for me," said Williams.

"It will be easier for me to play and harder for them to pick me up.

"I don't mind playing any position in midfield."

Williams, who is on international duty with Wales this week, will make his Premier League bow when Palace take on Tottenham Hotspur in their season opener at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Eagles created chances against Lazio but did not take them and Williams has warned they will need to be more clinical in England's top tier.

"You can't get much better than the Premier League at Selhurst Park against Tottenham," he added.

"It's going to be a great game and a full stadium which is going to be great.

"I think we have had a good pre-season and not picked up too many injuries - hopefully, we can take that into Tottenham.

"1-0 against Lazio isn't too bad, but we could have maybe got a goal and that would have been nice.

"In the Premier League, the top teams will have more possession and we are going to have few chances.

"When we get them we are going to have to take them and it is important we do.

"I think we have the right players to do that though in the likes of Kevin Phillips and Dwight Gayle."
