Three flats in South Norwood were flooded yesterday evening after an occupant left the bathroom tap on.

Firefighters from Woodside fire station were called to Regina Road, at 9.45pm and found two flats suffering water damage from a property above.

The crew were able to gain access to the property from a key holder who was nearby.

Once inside firefighters isolated the electrics in the property and helped to remove some of the water.

Watch Manager Jakes said: "The flat in which the tap was left on was covered in three to four inches of water, and the flat directly below was quite significantly damaged.

"The people there will have to replace the majority of their things. The third flat suffered minor water damage."
