I read the article about the charity shop thieves who were fined. I think the whole story seemed hypocritical and wrong.

Most charity shops have signs in their windows asking people not to leave donations outside the shop as this is classed as flytipping and anyone caught doing this will be fined.

So therefore the goods outside the shop were actually rubbish that had been dumped on the public highway and not belonging to the shop.

So taking them surely isn't theft?

I also do not understand why the two ladies were fined when a third lady was seen taking a toy and giving it to her dog and no action was taken.

Surely the people dumping goods outside charity shops should be held accountable as they are committing an offence and maybe be bothered to donate to the shop during trading hours.
