A man has been arrested for carrying a knife during a 12-hour rave in a disused warehouse in a quiet neighbourhood.

The Temple of Noise Party took place in a warehouse in Groton Road, Earlsfield, on Saturday night and did not finish until 11am the next day, leaving many residents furious.

Organisers Valhalla, Origin UK and Art Of Psy charged attendees £10-£15 entry, while the warehouse was decked out with wall hangings and lasers.

Neighbours, who said up to 6,000 revellers attended the event, complained of music keeping them up all night, with some coming out of their houses to challenge partygoers.

A mess of alcohol bottles and empty balloons, believed to have been filled with laughing gas, were left at the scene.

Ashley Chisholm, an IT contractor, of Algrave Road, said: “They were handing out balloons with laughing gas, smashed bottles around the street.

“I can’t imagine what it must have been like to live in houses directly across the building, it was booming in my loft at 10.30am.

“It is massively antisocial. Residents will want to know why the police were not able to close it down.”

Police were called but a spokeswoman said an assesment found no grounds to intervene, despite arresting a man found in possession of knife.

She said frequent visits were carried out throughout the night.

An ambulance crew also attended just before 8am on Sunday, with an 18-year-old man taken to St George’s Hospital as a priority.

Rhim Gul, from Major’s takeaway in Garratt Lane, said many partygoers were buying water on Saturday evening.

He said: “They were kids, only teenagers, there were no adults. We had nice friendly chats, they were definitely not from around here. We get a normal sort of customer, that night it was totally different.”

After the party a feud erupted on Twitter between ravers and residents about the noise.

Florien MCdiz, a raver, said: “The atmosphere was like no other, calm, chilled and everyone was there for the same reasons, music and socialising.

“I do on the other hand see where residents are coming from with all the noise but also, they have to accept that these days events like this are always about."

Waterside 22, the building's owner, confirmed the site was due for demolition before squatters moved in at the start of the month.

They have began court proceeding to evict them.

A spokesman said: “Waterside 22 have no knowledge of who the occupiers are and can confirm that they are present unlawfully and without any authority.”
