A Croydon charity has teamed up with an Upper Norwood songsmith to to raise money to help orphaned children.

Spread Some Sunshine, a charity for deprived children, hopes to raise £2,000 through sales of a special single produced with songwriter Daz Shields.

The money will go towards the purchase of a minibus for an orphanage in Accra, Ghana.

The 16 children at the orphanage feature on the song, called Sunshine Single.

The charity's co-founder, Faye Toner, 32, of Purley, said: "The benefits the bus will bring to the children's lives will be unimaginable.

"Not only will it facilitate access to the local school for children in the community, it will give the children in the orphanage the opportunity to go out on excursions."

Ms Toner, an air hostess, said: "A trip to the beach or the chance to find a large open space to play are things we all take for granted.

"The arrival of the bus will allow the children to venture beyond the four walls of their home and will bring countless smiles to brighten up their often difficult lives."

The song can be bought through iTunes, listed under the artist Daz Shields and the Sunshine Gang, or from Amazon.
