The ever-popular West End Summer Show will be back again this year, with fun for all the family.

Regarded as one of the best traditional shows in the area, the entertainment includes attractions to suit all ages and tastes.

In the main marquee, 140 classes covering vegetables, flower arranging, cookery and photography will be on offer, as well as an arts and crafts section with stalls selling a range of materials.

Out in the open, traditional village show events and attractions will include children’s sports, Young’s horse rides, dunk the damsel, smash-a-plate and Punch and Judy.

A bucking bronco will also provide fun for all ages, as riders try to stay in the saddle for as long as possible.

A firm favourite at last year’s show, the dog show, courtesy of the Kennel Club, will return once again to find the best dogs in the borough, including those with the waggiest tail and the best veteran.

Bonita the border collie will be back defending her honour after claiming a clean sweep of the awards she entered last year.

Entertaining the crowds will be a silver band and the Stagecoach Dance and Theatre school, and the bi-annual classic cars display will return to this year’s show.

Donald Mungall, chairman of the show, says: “This is a traditional village fair and we aim to make the show as much fun as possible. We often see three generations of families enjoying themselves together.

“We know there is always a good-spirited and easy-going atmosphere at the show with something for everyone to enjoy.”
