A father and daughter tennis duo from West Molesey will be having a holiday of a lifetime after winning a competition they did not know they had entered.
Mike Saraty, 65, and his daughter Eloise, 12, who play at Ember Sports Club, will enjoy a five-star tennis coaching weekend at La Manga Club, Murcia, Spain, after winning the prize at the National Tennis Centre (NTC).
The pair were one of six duos treated to the day’s training at the NTC, having won a tennis tournament held to coincide with this summer’s Wimbledon.
Much to their surprise, Mr Saraty’s wife had also entered the pair into the competition for the holiday at the last minute, and without their knowledge – until it came time for the draw.
Mr Saraty said: “We had an excellent day at the National Tennis Centre, which was capped off by winning the trip to La Manga Club.
“It’s the first competition that we have ever won and it was wonderful when our names were pulled out. We can’t wait to get out there.”
The father and daughter will enjoy a three night stay at the Hotel Principle Felipe and follow in the footsteps of tennis stars past and present.
