A woman's calls for help fell on deaf ears when a man ripped a £1,000 necklace from her neck.
The woman, who is from India but has been staying with a friend in the UK, was sitting on a bench in Mellows Park, off Stafford Road in Wallington, when a man grabbed the jewellery around her neck at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 23.
After a short struggle, the man pulled the necklace from her and ran.
The 64-year-old woman shouted "thief, help me" but a group of mums with their children did nothing.
The woman fled the area, leaving the thief in the park.
The suspect is around 25-years-old, is tanned or dark-skinned and about 5ft 6in. He had short, dark hair and was wearing a light blue T-shirt and blue jeans.
The necklace is a 22ct gold rope design.
If you have any information you can call police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
