Firefighters saw the man arrested after he doused ''a few things'' in petrol
A 20-year-old who did not want his family to move home threatened to set fire to himself and the house yesterday.
Epsom firefighters were called to a property on Chipstead Way, Banstead, at 2.20pm.
An Epsom fire officer said: "The man’s family were moving house and he didn’t want to go.
"He was threatening to set fire to himself and the property and had doused a few things in petrol but the police had arrested him by the time we arrived."
He said the man’s worried family had called the fire brigade.
