Twickenham’s very own Last Night of the Proms was staged by the Royal Military School of Music on July 24, attracting a crowd of 3,000 people.

The grounds of Kneller Hall hosted the Army Music Corps concert, the last in a series for 2013, which featured the band of the Welsh Guards, the band of the Army Air Corps, the band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the lowland band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The programme included a traditional finale, with the audience waving their flags along to Land of Hope and Glory, among other patriotic anthems.

The annual event was an opportunity to invite past Directors of Music and Bandmasters of the British Army, who would have completed their training at Kneller Hall.

Student bandmaster Burton, who conducted the finale, said: “To conduct such a wonderful group of musicians on this bandstand in front of such a large audience was an amazing experience, one I will not forget.”
