Croydon Harriers celebrated promotion on Saturday after clinching the UK Youth Development League U17 and U20 South One title at Croydon Arena.

The club went into the final fixture five points clear of Brighton & Hove City and virtually assured of promotion, but made sure there were no last-minute slip ups by winning the match with a score of 615, 237 ahead of Brighton.

It meant they won all four of this season's matches to dominate the league and will now compete in Southern Premier Two next season.

Saturday's success saw them win 16 individual A race events and six of the eight relays.

Stevie Lawrence claimed two wins by running a new personal best of four minutes, 49.2 seconds to win the U20 women's 1500m and then jumping 2.00m to win the U20 women's pole vault.

There were also personal bests for Patrick Lucas in the U20 men's 400m (51.3), Adam Wileman in the U20 men's 400m hurdles (62.9) and Kyle Andrews in the U20 men's triple jump (11.47m).

Other winners were Edwin Miles (U17M 100m, 11.6), Daniel Luke (U17M 200m, 23.8), Marcelle Rowe (U17M 400m, 53.4), Robert Sakala (U17M high jump, 1.65m), Lewis Sullivan (U20M 110m hurdles, 21.8), Omar Reid (U20M discus, 46.03m), Shirin Irving (U17W 300m hurdles, 47.5), Emma Fossett (U17W javelin, 33.45m), Ashleigh Clarke (U20W 100m, 12.3), Zoe Fossett (U20W triple jump, 10.35m) and Tamara Reid (U20W discus, 28.70m).

In the relays, the U17 men’s 4x100m team of Luke, Aaron Adekoya,  Brandon Lewis and Miles set a new club record of 43.2 to eclipse the previous mark of 43.38 set 26 years ago.

There were also wins for the U20 men's 100m (44.2) and 400m (3:41.1) teams as well as the U17 men's 400m team (3:36.7), while the U17 (53.4) and U20 women's (49.3) 100m relay squads also won.
