Thousands of music-lovers made the most of the sun and enjoyed a day of free entertainment at an annual festival which drew its biggest crowds last weekend.
Music in Nork Park was packed with more than 3,000 partygoers who were treated to performances by Ben Thomson, recognised as Europe’s No.1 Elvis impersonator; Sarah Pullen’s Songs from the Shows; and Colin Roy’s international cabaret act.
Marquees, sunshades and festival tents covered the whole park, giving people the chance to mingle and picnic on the grass while listening to the music.
The Marching Band of the Redhill Corps of drums kicked off proceedings and the Redhill Baptist Church Gospel Choir and 7T Disco Band completed the line-up.
£3,000 was raised on the day which will go towards the running of next year’s event.
The popularity of the festival comes in the wake of a 21-year-old Music in the Park event, which was run by Carshalton Beeches Rotary Club in the grounds of Carew Manor, the Music in Nonsuch Park event, and the music event in Priory Park, Reigate, all being cancelled.
Organiser Peter Bright said: "The only comment heard on-site was ‘a brilliant afternoon’."
