Members of the Wandsworth MS Society celebrated the organisation's 50th anniversary on last weekend with a party at the Royal Hospital For Neuro-Disability (RHN).
The Wandsworth branch WAS set up in 1963 by founding member Richard Cave about 10 years after the formation of the national MS Society.
David Heycock, 69, who has been a member for 40 years, said: "The day went really well, it was wonderful to see everyone from the Wandsworth branch.
"About 60 or 70 people attended including Putney MP Justine Greening, Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth Kim Caddy, Sarah Rollinson and Dr Sophie Dupont, both from the RHN, Hilary Sears and chairman of the MS Society.
"MS is probably best described as a gradual, slow deterioration of the body but the Wandsworth branch has been immensely helpful to its members, including myself, providing care, conversation and yoga which all really help improve morale."
Music on the day was provided by jazz band, the Brian Iddenden Trio.
