A Weybridge business has donated £60,000 to two Surrey charities which help people with disabilities.

Procter and Gamble (P&G), the company behind Pampers, Gillette, Fairy and Olay, raised the money through product sales to employees, cake sales, auctions and raffles.

The company, whose headquarters are in The Heights, chose to split the money between Disability Challengers and LinkAble. Disability Challengers provides play and leisure activities across Surrey and Hampshire for children and young people with disabilities.

The charity provides six-week summer play schemes, which cost £29,500 to run and P&G’s donation will help provide a lifeline to many families.

LinkAble, based in Woking, provides sports, social and recreational activities for children and adults with a broad range of learning disabilities.

The charity recently had a complete rebuild and P&G’s donation allowed it to build a sensory garden, which aims to stimulate all five senses.

Aimee Goldsmith, communications director of P&G, said: “These two charities are truly outstanding and P&G is proud to support them through our donation.

“Our employees care deeply about the local communities in which they live and work and have raised huge amounts of money over the years for worthy local causes.”
