Police are stepping up patrols in parks and open spaces over the summer months, targeting antisocial behaviour (ASB) in particular.
Richmond has 18 safer neighbourhood teams which have all promised to boost police presence, tackle problem neighbours and address underage drinking.
Sergeant Michael Coughlan from the Kew safer neighbourhood team said: “We are very fortunate in Richmond. The borough has some of the lowest ASB figures in London.
“The main problems we have relating to ASB are through excessive noise or inconsiderate behaviour leaving neighbours scared or feeling distressed.”
The summer ASB initiative is a London-wide scheme and has been developed in consultation with the community, with particular care taken to support victims.
Commander Mak Chishty, who heads the ASB team, said: “The Metropolitan Police recognises the impact ASB can have on the lives of many people on a daily basis. It often leaves victims feeling helpless, desperate and with a seriously reduced quality of life.”
Events will include drop-in surgeries for one-on-one consultations, street briefings, and bike marking schemes.
Twickenham Riverside neighbourhood team will hold a public meeting on September 4, at 7pm in York House.
Residents are encouraged to check events with their local safer neighbourhood team.
