Metropolitan Police continued their giant-killer act. Last week they defeated second-placed Fleet Town, Saturday it was 3rd place Dover Athletic and to score a hat trick next Saturday they have a home tie against league leaders Dulwich Hamlet.

Should be a very interesting game at Imber Court.

The bumper home crowd of 858 were silenced after 34 minutes following a blatant hand ball inside the area by Dover defender Matt Bourne.

Leading Police goal scorer Ben Abbey struck the spot kick firm and true into the bottom left hand corner of the back of the net giving goal keeper Darren Smith.

It was no more than the Police deserved and they had shown more attacking flair than the home side.

James Evans was also unlucky following a short run with a 25-yard drive that went just over the cross bar. The second half involved attacking moves at both end.

Tony Finn weaved his magic down the left wing with a 30-yard run swerving past three defenders only for his shot from 15 yards just to be tipped around the post by Smith.

Ryan Gray with the corner kick saw his shot sail across the face of the goal mouth when only a simple touch was required to put it in the net.

The game, however, was far from over and, in the closing five minutes, Bourne was unlucky when his 10 yard shot for the equaliser was instinctively blocked by Will Packham the Police keeper.

Minutes later a cross was met by Bourne and once again another great save from Packham. A deserved win for the Police and they certainly are the in-form team to watch at the moment.
