Athletes, coaches and volunteers are all crucial to sports and all make a difference in individual ways.

To recognise achievements, hard work and motivational skills and to show off your appreciation, nominations are now being accepted for the Elmbridge sports personality awards.

With 14 categories available for nomination, the awards celebrate and reward exceptional performances of clubs, team and athletes in the borough, as well as recognising the coaches and volunteers who help them succeed.

Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services, said: “The annual awards are an opportunity to credit all the achievements and efforts of the sporting community in Elmbridge.

“We have a great history of sporting success within the borough and we hope to encourage people to continue in their chosen sports and maintain the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Councillor Barry Cheyne, chairman of the Elmbridge Sports Council, said the awards were a fitting way to recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of all those who participated in sports in the borough.

Nominations must be received by Sunday, September 1, with the presentation evening taking place on Friday, November 1, at Danes Hill School, Oxshott.
