A cinema is celebrating the release of new Disney Pixar film Monsters University with a weekend of fun.

Film fans visiting Sutton's St Nicholas Centre this weekend will be in with a chance of winning their own private screening of the upcoming movie or one of a range of other prizes.

Retailers at the town centre mall will be distributing scratchcards which will give people the chance to win the personal screening. Only a handful of people will win the top prizes, which include the screening and a Nintendo games console, but everyone who gets a scratchcard will get a reward.

People will also get a taste of what it would be like to be in the film by stepping in front of a giant green screen and being digitally morphed into a monster and put onto their own film poster.

Adam Watts, general manager for Empire Cinemas in Sutton, said: "We’re thrilled to have organised the scratch card competition to help make the weekend even more exciting for visitors – and even better to be able to offer the top prize of a private screening."

Monsters University is a prequel to the hit film Monsters, Inc which goes back to when main characters Sulley and Mike met.

All the fun will be happening on the first floor of the St Nicholas Centre on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
