So Councillor Mike Fisher needs almost a thousand pounds a week for expenses does he? (Councillors' high income despite £37million debt, Croydon Guardian 15 November) Is he aware the Government decrees that two adults over 18 years of age need less than £1,000 to live for 11 weeks?
Now we know why council tax is considered to be so important - Coun Fisher and his colleagues need thousands of pounds a week for their expenses.
How many councillors would come forward for the job, I wonder, if they had to limit their expenses to the £45.05 per person, per week, the law says is sufficient for a couple to live on?
Coun Fisher needs to do a great deal more than just peg councillors expenses - he needs to cut them drastically and put the proceeds back into services.
It's about time our councillors stopped preying on the citizens they purport to serve.
