A sawn off shotgun and two revolvers were seized by police in a 24 hour crackdown on gang crime.

A 19-year-old from Croydon was arrested in Pulross Road, Brixton, after police stopped and searched him and found he had a loaded revolver stashed in a sock.

He was arrested for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a knife and was later charged. He was due to appear at Camberwell Youth Court this morning.

Police recovered a sawn off shotgun in a store shed at Teyham Court, in Northcote Road, Clapham, where they executed drugs warrants on a flat, a garage and the shed.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a quantity of ammunition.

He was bailed to return in August pending further enquiries.

Police also arrested a 17-year-old from Camberwell who was found with a .44 calibre Smith and Wesson revolver in Dog Kennel Hill, Dulwich.

He was charged on suspicion of possession of a firearm with an intent to endanger life, and possession of a class B drug and was due to appear at Camberwell Youth Court this morning.

The three firearms were removed from the streets by officers from the trident gang crime command on Thursday, June 13.

“We can help people who want to escape involvement with gang violence. We work with local authorities and partners who can offer training, education, employment and housing support.”
