Chainsaws, lawn mowers, strimmers and leaf blowers have been stolen as shed thefts rise in Mole Valley.

Police have seen a spike in thefts over the past few weeks with 18 shed offences across Leatherhead and other parts of the district since May 24.

Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Rundle said: "The suspects seem to be targeting the rural areas of Mole Valley and I would appeal to our local residents to be vigilant.

"If they see vehicles or individuals acting suspiciously I would urge them to contact police."

Insp Rundle added: "Over the coming weeks we will be on patrols in these areas and enquiries are ongoing to look for the individuals responsible."

Lawn mowers and strimmers were stolen from sheds and garages in the Givons Grove Estate, Leatherhead, between June 4 and 5.

Chainsaws, lawn mowers and strimmers were stolen from sheds in Woodlands Road, Bookham, between June 3 and June 4.

To protect your shed fit a good quality padlock, secure valuable items such as bikes and lawn mowers to the shed frame or floor and forensically mark equipment.

Shed braces can strengthen panels and doors while sheds could be moved closer to your property or into your line of sight from the house.
