Epsom’s women have just a few days left to enter a hugely popular annual fundraising event which is promising great entertainment and a fete-like atmosphere.
Nearly 3,000 women have already signed up for Epsom Race for Life (RFL), a 5k run which can be jogged, walked or taken at the runner’s own pace, on Epsom Downs Racecourse.
Last year’s event raised £336,994 for Cancer Research UK after 4,612 women and girls put on their running shoes to take part.
The money raised funds research into more than 200 different types of cancer affecting both women and men.
This year organisers are hoping 5,000 people will take part and raise at least £300,000.
For the first time groups of people can sign-up together, as well as individuals, and men and children are being encouraged to come along on the day and organisers will get them involved.
There will also be stalls, entertainment and a fete-like atmosphere for runners, supporters and children to enjoy.
Each participant is also being encouraged to do a ‘wardrobe workout’ before the event - bagging up hidden treasures like quality clothes, books and accessories they no longer use and taking them to the donation station at the event.
