Late night drinkers are finding their choices increasingly limited as a two of the town's four nightclubs have shut down in two weeks.

Sutton town centre clubs Chicago's and Revolution both shut down this week leaving revellers with slim pickings in the town centre.

Revolution put up misspelled signs saying it was closing 'until further notice' earlier this week and the Sutton branch of Chicago's was closed by administrators at the start of the month.

Atmosphere Bars and Clubs, the owner of Chicago's, which has venues all over the country, went into administration earlier this year. Administrators Deloitte are trying to consolidate the firm's losses and the closure of the Throwley Way bar, which incorporates neighbouring New York New York, is part of that process.

Daniel Butters, joint administrator and partner at Deloitte, said: "Unfortunately, we have had to close a number of the Atmosphere Bars and Clubs’ venues which have suffered as a result of reductions in consumer discretionary spending and general difficulties in the market.

"We are grateful for the continued support of all employees and stakeholders to the business during this difficult time."

The misspelled sign in the door of Revolution

It is not clear why parent company Inventive Leisure has shut Revolution, the Sutton Guardian has approached the Manchester-based firm for a comment but has not heard anything back.

The two closures leaves just Wonderland in Cheam Road, which the police tried and failed to close down last week amid concerns it was breaching the terms of its licence, and Bounce Bar in the High Street.
