The brother of a woman, who died from a heart condition, has questioned why her illness was not picked up by doctors.

South London Coroner Roy Palmer ruled Wallington woman Susan Hill died of natural causes at an inquest yesterday (Thursday, June 13).

At Croydon Coroner's Court, Mr Palmer cited heart disease as they key cause of Ms Hill's death but her brother, Stuart Bunch, asked why her illness was not picked up by doctors, who regularly saw her in connection with a long history of mental health problems.

Ms Hill was found dead at her home in Mollison Drive on January 13.

A post mortem revealed severe narrowing of the arteries around her heart caused by heart disease.

Although Ms Hill had been treated for high blood pressure, heart disease had not been diagnosed.

Speaking during the hearing, Mr Bunch said: "Given that she had heart disease that could kill her at any time and how many times she was hospitalised, why was this never picked up? Do you think that's strange?"

Mr Palmer said many people have heart disease and go about their lives without knowing it.
