An 'ideas shop' where people can comment on £2m improvements proposed for South End is to open for a few days.

The shop at 95a South End will be open to anyone with comments on proposed improvements for the area, which includes the Restaurant Quarter and Selsdon Road up to the junction with Croham Road.

The £2.8m project is part of the Connected Croydon programme and aims to make South End a more characterful destination and gateway to the town centre.

Improvements being considered include creating outdoor space for a café culture, new paving, lighting, seating and improvements to building frontages.

Council officers will be answering questions and gathering feedback alongside the design team on June 23, between 11am and 4pm to coincide with the South End Food Festival.

They will also be there on June 26 between 5pm and 8pm, when a food tasting event is being held to showcase the nearby venues.

The shop front will display information about the plans and information about how comments can be made from June 14 and July 14.

Information will also be on display at Croydon Visitor Centre in George Street between June 24 and June 30.

Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and transport said: "We are working closely with traders and residents to create a welcoming, vibrant environment for this important stretch of high street and to build on the village feel of Selsdon Road."
