Nearly two-thirds of Croydon residents have never ridden a bike, it has been revealed.
Some 63 per cent of the population has never cycled, according to Croydon Council.
Just one per cent of all journeys are made by bike - half the London average.
The youngest people in the borough cycle the most, with five-to-19-year-olds climbing into the saddle most regularly.
But Croydon also has fewer children walking or cycling to school than any other borough in London, according to TfL.
More children in Croydon travel to school by car than anywhere else in the capital.
In 2010 Croydon Council, along with 12 other 'biking boroughs', received £4m from TfL to raise the profile of cycling, improve facilities and highlight safety awareness.
