A by-election will be held next month for the seat vacated by former Kingston Council leader Derek Osbourne, following his shock resignation this week.
Ex-Liberal Democrat Mr Osbourne quit on Wednesday, following his arrest on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.
Deputy leader Liz Green has stepped up to take temporary charge of the council until a permanent replacement is found.
Today, the Kingston Lib Dems announced via its Twitter feed that a by-election for Mr Osbourne's vacant Beverley ward seat will now be held on Thursday, July 25.
In 2010 - the last time the seat was up for election - Mr Osbourne collected 2,138 votes, the highest of any candidate.
