Residents can celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation by holding a street party next month.

As was the case with the 2011 royal wedding and last summer’s diamond jubilee, red tape and fees for people who want to celebrate this royal milestone with a street party have been waived by Wandsworth Council.

They can be staged free of charge over the weekend of July 13 and 14 when the nation officially celebrates the Queen’s accession to the throne in 1953.

So far residents in 17 streets across the borough have made the arrangements to hold their parties that weekend, while five events were held last weekend to mark the actual date of the coronation.

The normal £50 fee for arranging a road closure has been waived, while all the other information required can be submitted online via an internet questionnaire.
