Crystal Palace legend Geoff Thomas has set off on a charity bike ride to Paris, to raise money for a blood cancer charity.

Thomas, who captained the Eagles to the FA Cup Final in 1990, was joined by former teammates Ian Wright and John Salako in London last week at the start of the 450km ride last week.

The trio were among the 170 cyclists who saddled up in Greenwich Park in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, a charity Thomas has close ties with after battling chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003.

Thomas, who is an ambassador for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, said: “Since being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003, I have met many incredible people including determined doctors, inspiring patients and selfless fundraisers.

“For me, London-Paris: Be Unstoppable is another way I can continue to raise awareness and help Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research to beat blood cancers and improve the lives of patients so they can live their lives to the full.”

Ian Wright added: “It is great to be joining up with my friend and former team mate Geoff Thomas to take part in this ride. We aim to raise as much money as possible to help beat blood cancer.”
