Queen guitarist Brian May and a Leatherhead-based wildlife champion will join tomorrow's march against government plans to cull badgers.

Mr May CBE, 65, who will join the march on Parliament Square, said he was "furious at the Government's intransigence and pigheadedness" over the proposed slaughter of thousands of badgers.

Leatherhead-based Wildlife Aid Foundation's director Simon Cowell, who presents TV’s Wildlife SOS programme, said badger culls were "morally and ethically abhorrent" and there was "no justification for it at all."

Mr Cowell said it was not scientifically proven that culls would achieve the government’s target in reducing TB among cattle.

He said: "All it will do is wipe out thousands of badgers, which are supposed to be a protected species, and at the same time alienate and enrage millions of British people who care about animals.

"The badger cull is an animal welfare issue of the highest gravity and concern."

The WAF has been caring for sick and injured wild animals for over three decades, attempting to rebalance the imbalance between man and nature.

Anyone who would like to join the march is asked to wear black and white to show badger support and meet at Millbank, on the Embankment, at midday.
