Rowers are putting their oars in to raise funds for a new practice tank at Molesey Boat Club.

They will row 40 miles from Henley back to the club on July 14 in an attempt to raise £40,000, with help from local businesses.

The money will be split equally between the Princess Alice Hospice and a project to build a new community rowing tank, to replace the one demolished when the Walton Excel centre was built in 2004.

Nicole Brannan, a volunteer for the club, said: “The local community will have access to this exciting new facility, with schools and organisations already showing great interest.

“This tank will greatly benefit those who want to try out rowing and local school children including those with special needs.”
