Comedian Robbie Corbett opened a charity walk in aid of mental health charity Mind last weekend.

The 15km Positive Steps walk took place in Lloyd Park on May 25, to raise awareness of mental health and help fund Mind in Croydon's work in the community.

Mr Corbett, who lives in Shirley, opened the inaugural event from the top of a double decker bus.

The event marked national Mental Health Awareness Week and featured a Living Library on the bus, with five service users on board providing an opportunity for the public to speak to people with lived mental health experience.

The event has so far raised over £2,000 for the charity and first to cross the line was Daniel Newnham and his daughter Hayley, 13.

He said: "There were seven of us in total who completed the walk because a close friend of ours, David Smith, sadly lost his life last year through depression.

"We plan to do this every year now to support Mind in Croydon so that they can help others who have suffered in the way that our family has."
