The Rose Theatre has apologised after a promoter cancelled a show just days before it was due to hit the stage.
The Best of British was set to have a two-day stint with matinee shows at the High Street venue on May 31 and June 1 but organisers were forced to pull the plug after a cast member became ill.
The show was to be a variety show of modern entertainment, including veteran comedian Freddie ‘Parrot Face’ Davies and Miss Marple actor and 1960s TV icon Jess Conrad.
A spokeswoman from the Rose Theatre said: "At the request of the promoter who was bringing the production of Best of British to Kingston, we have unfortunately had to cancel Friday and Saturday’s performances due to cast illness.
"Box Office are contacting our customers personally to advise them of this and have made approximately 100 calls.
"We are sorry that the show has been cancelled but we are doing everything we can in order to accommodate the patrons who booked tickets for this."
