A six-month dispersal order has been implemented in Broad Green to tackle anti-social behaviour.

The order started on Thursday, May 23, following complaints from residents they have felt intimidated by groups of youths gathering in evenings and after dark.

The Broad Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team has also received reports from residents and businesses that groups congregating there have been causing problems and intimidating those living, visiting or working in the area.

Some youths are also said to have been intimidating local shopkeepers and shoplifting.

The dispersal order gives officers the power to move on any groups of people behaving antisocially and prevent them from returning to the area for 24 hours.

Sergeant Steve Ribano, from the Broad Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "This dispersal order will help us to target the groups of people behaving antisocially and that are making local people in the area feel unsafe.

"The intimidation of local shopkeepers and residents is not acceptable and we will be looking to enforce this dispersal order to help improve the lives of the local community."

Cabinet member for community safety, Councillor Simon Hoar, said: "We want our communities to feel safe, and the partnership’s dispersal orders are a good way of supporting the local police to help tackle these problems."
