The new owners of the derelict Worcester Park Tavern pub have hinted that the site may become a hotel.

Shahrastani Development Limited bought the site in Park Terrace after The Spirit Pub Company decided to sell it last year.

But a family of travellers including children and a pregnant woman moved in on the empty car park with at least six caravans on April 16.

New owner Shiraz Bhogani said the Pinner based company had bought the site after seeing it on the market for a reasonable price.

He said: "At the moment we are just land banking.

"We are a hotel company so we are looking at all the options.

"I can’t say for definite what it will be but we do specialise in hotels.

"We thought it was a good site in a good location for a reasonable price.

"We understand that the pub was losing money.”

On the travellers Mr Bhogani said: "We went to the county court to get them evicted but by the time we got the order they had already left."

Last year June Fraser kicked of the Campaign for Real Ale to save the pub and had hundreds of residents back it.

At the time she said: "If a hotel takes it I would be reasonably happy if they kept the building. I just want that to be preserved not knocked down.
