A couple who have worked for the NHS for a combined 75 years have been invited to the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Adolf and Mary Commodore, of Ruxley Lane, West Ewell, received their exclusive invitation a fortnight ago from the Lord Chamberlain, one of the royal household’s chief officers, on behalf of the Queen.

They will attend the party with thousands of other guests on Wednesday.

Mrs Commodore said: "It’s going to be a wonderful experience. My husband has bought a new suit and I’m going to buy a new dress for the occasion."

Mr Commodore works as a hospital ward manager and his wife as a staff nurse at Tolworth psychiatric hospital.
