A fast food restaurant has withdrawn its application for a 24-hour drive-thru licence.

Burger King, in the Priory Retail Park in Christchurch Road, had asked Merton Council to extend its opening hours so it could serve customers via the drive-thru between the hours of 11pm and 5pm seven days a week.

The Metropolitan Police in Merton had voiced concern that it could lead to increase crime and disorder and public nuisance.

The application was withdrawn before its hearing on Friday (May 11).
