Life has a strange habit of going round in circles, and one can be on top of the world one day, and rock-bottom the next.
When I defected from the Tories to UKIP in 2007, citing the ineffectiveness of David Cameron and their weak policies, I well remember being verbally berated in a local Sutton supermarket by a woman who appeared somewhat deranged.
She sneered at me "Your party will never win anything".
She was, of course, referring to UKIP, so I presume she must have been a tory supporter.
Now, things have turned full circle.
The Tories are completely split down the middle as a party, David Cameron is desperately trying to paper over the cracks, and continues to mislead the populace by trying to pretend he can "renegotiate our terms with the EU".
He, as well as UKIP know, that is impossible as the other countries and our stone-age rulers in Brussels will not allow it.
Result? A tory party in turmoil and crisis with a leader not fit to lead, and UKIP soaring up the polls as people finally realise the gravity of our situation. Isn't life strange?
