An IT hub designed specially for youngsters was officially opened last week.

The hub, based in the Katherine Low Settlement, in Battersea High Street, can be used by young people who do not have computers at home.

Four volunteers are guiding and helping the young members, alongside two mentors from Microsoft who have helped fund the hub.

It will be open up to four nights a week for homework and other activities.

Hana Gill, Wednesday club co-ordinator, said: "Having the new KLS IT Youth Hub has had a massive impact, especially in engaging young people to complete homework tasks.

"It’s also great to see some of our past members coming back as IT champions, peer educators, and getting valuable work experience whilst helping out at the IT Youth Hub."

Haidi Jenkin, of Microsoft UK, said: "My colleague Stephen and I joined the Microsoft Youth Hub program so we could do something positive for the community and we were delighted to be matched to the Katherine Low Settlement and the Homework Club."
