A robbery at Kingston University’s Knights Park campus in which a Kingston University bar manager was assaulted and locked in a cellar cupboard has triggered a police appeal.

The attack happened at about 11.50pm on Monday, May 13 in the students' union bar.

Suspects wearing dark crash helmets – one armed with a rounders bat – told the 30-year-old victim to empty the safe, cash boxes, and cash machine in the bar.

The man was taken to Kingston Hospital with heavy bruising on his face.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Hywel Davies, from Barnes Flying Squad, said: "This was clearly a pre-meditated attack with the suspects armed and not hesitating to use violence to obtain what they wanted.

"I would appeal for anyone with information or any witnesses to please contact police as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should call detective sergeant Hywel Davies at Barnes Flying Squad on 07920 812 982 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
