Three suspected muggers were arrested at a train station after a dramatic chase.
A 24-year-old man was robbed of his mobile phone and wallet as he walked along Mulgrave road in Sutton at about 2.45pm on Thursday, May 9.
The victim and a witness gave chase in a car but lost sight of the robbers and called police.
Officers searched the area and the surrounding roads before driving to West Sutton station where a train was just pulling in.
Police held the train at the station and boarded it so they could search the carriages.
They arrested three men, aged 19, 20 and 31, on suspicion of robbery.
The men all live outside the borough and have been bailed to return to Sutton police station next month.
Anyone with information about the incident can call police on 101 or anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
