Crystal Palace's underdogs status played right into their hands at Brighton last night, according to Dean Moxey.

The Eagles left-back helped Palace secure a first Wembley appearance since 2004 as they beat Brighton 2-0 at the Amex Stadium to secure a play-off final game against Watford for a place in the Premier League.

After a 0-0 draw in the first leg, Brighton were overwhelming favourites going into the second leg but Moxey was always confident.

"What an amazing night, it was unbelievable," he said.

"It's not really sunk in yet, the job we did was unbelievably professional. We went to Brighton, basically written off by everybody, especially them (Brighton), they thought they had won before the game even started.

"But we wen there and did what we did."

Wilfried Zaha's double inspired the Eagles to success and Moxey hopes the Manchester United-bound star can repeat the trick against the Hornets."Wilf is leaving us at the end of the season for bigger and better things, but, hopefully, he can do that again one more time," added Moxey.

"He's frustrating at times but when he pops up with tricks and goals like that he's great.

"The gaffer has been saying to him to get inside the full back as he tends to hang out the back and try and get the ball to feet and do a few tricks. But the gaffer has been saying ever since he came in to get inside the full back and you'll get a goal. Last night was perfect timing."

Moxey has a 100 per cent record at Wembley having played their once with Exeter City, when they beat Cambridge United 1-0 in the Conference play-off final in 2008, having missed their final the season before.

"I have been there twice with Exeter," he said.

"We lost the first one which I didn't play in but won the second one. I played and we won 1-0 and I set the goal up so that's not bad.

"Watford probably have the slight edge as they beat us earlier this season and then we went to their place and started sloppy and gave them two goals.

"The second half there we came out and dominated the game for 45 minutes and, hopefully, we can do that again."
