Residents have voiced their concerns over a plan to build two multi-storey buildings in Wimbledon town centre.

Wimbledon Offices Ltd submitted plans on April 11 to demolish the existing office block at 247 The Broadway, opposite Wimbledon's Holy Trinity Church, to make way for a five-storey block for office and health use and a three-storey block of flats.

A petition objecting to the application received 33 signatures from residents of Griffiths Road and The Broadway which was sent to Merton Council on April 25.

The design of the balconies was altered following a public exhibition in March last year, but some neighbours still have concerns over a potential loss of privacy, the size of the development and possible problems with parking, noise and loss of light.

Comment on the application closed on May 8 and is due to go before the council's planning committee.
