Unravel the legends of Epsom's past later this month at the book launch of Surrey Folk Tales.
Surrey storyteller Janet Dowling will give a performance of several folk tales featuring flying pigs and wicked witches at the Sanctuary in Ewell Village.
One of the stories to be performed is the Trial of Joan Butts - so-called witch of Ewell where Butts was accused of bewitching her servant.
Ms Dowling will be re-enacting Joan’s trial at Boune Hall on May 29 with local children to decide if she was really wicked or not.
Other legends to be told include ‘The Loss of Nonsuch’ which re-tells the story of Nonsuch Palace and uncovering local folklore about it.
With the intriguing and enlightening tales set to focus on the north and east of the borough, it is a must-see to truly understand local legend.
